Bring the spirit of Indian craftsmanship and heritage into your home with this Antique Surti Teak Wood Coffee Table Chest, a one-of-a-kind 19th-century original from Gujarat. Handcrafted from thick, golden-brown teak and reinforced with iron and brass banding, this chest was originally commissioned by a family head to securely store valuables such as textiles, jewellery, dowry, and cash. Its robust construction and original teak finish, enhanced by a beautiful patina, reflect its age and storied history.
The chest’s generous proportions (136 x 66 x 46 cm / 53.5 x 26 x 18.1 inches) make it the perfect height and depth for use as a coffee table, while also offering ample storage for magazines, books, or blankets. The chest features original ironwork, brass detailing, and a strong padlock clasp, all of which add to its authentic rustic charm. Expect historic repairs, age-related marks, and subtle wear, which only enhance its unique character.
